New Art Club

     I just rehappened upon DickBlick's Art Room Aid and created a supply list for my after school art club. About three years ago, the organization really helped me out by matching donations from some generous donors. I was able to really integrate art into my curriculum that year. It was awesome!  I'm hoping to do the same this year but go even further and include some other grade levels as well by starting an after school art club.  If you'd like to help, (every dollar counts) visit our art club here

Trying Something New

     I started third grade August 10th of this year.  I am a 21 year veteran teacher, however,  I've never taught third grade before.  All my experience has been in kinder and first with the exception of one year in second grade last year.  Amazingly, I'm having a great time!  Many of my students, I've had before, either in second grade last year or in kindergarten three years ago. They are so much more independent now.  We are learning how to read actively, identify the main idea, details, and elaborations, take notes, and write about what we read using the text for evidence.  Boy, highlighters are a must! And the kids love using them!
